Life cycle assessment (LCA) has emerged in recent years as an vital tool in meeting the challenges of climate change, peak oil, drought, pollution and increasing competition for land resources. In particular LCA helps businesses respond positively to these issues by getting on the front foot with regard to supply chain and product stewardship issues.
The conference will run over three days with sector specific themes including carbon, water, buildings, waste management, energy and agriculture. Abstracts for papers and posters are invited on the following subjects:
One aim of the conference is to make bridges between different environmental assessment methods that have a sustainability focus. This includes:
• Life cycle assessment • LCA business opportunities and challenges • Ecological footprints • Life cycle management • Energy and greenhouse life cycle studies • Materials flow analysis • Life cycle inventory initiatives • Triple bottom line accounting approaches • Input / output analysis • Life cycle costing
